IT services provider Wipro has bagged a five-year IT infrastructure transformation deal from the ASSA ABLOY Group.

The Bangalore-based Wipro will consolidate ASSA ABLOY’s data centers in the EMEA region and deploy a cloud-based service model, which will include IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service).

The objective of this IT contract is to improve the efficiency of the company’s data center services by moving them into Wipro’s BoundaryLess Data Center (BLDC) offering. ASSA ABLOY will also benefit from a global delivery model through Wipro’s ServiceNXT, a managed services framework.

The deployment will leverage Wipro’s BoundaryLess Data Center offering and will provide a suite of IT infrastructure management services to ASSA ABLOY’s global organization to bring in agility, and a consumption-based IT service model.

ASSA ABLOY, a global provider of door opening solutions headquartered in Sweden, has operations in more than 70 countries and sales close to SEK 57 billion.

Jens Nielsen, CIO of ASSA ABLOY Group said: “With our data center infrastructure supported by Wipro, we can drive added efficiencies, and most importantly, bring about joint innovations to serve our customers better.”

Carl-Henrik Hallström, head of Nordic Region, Wipro said that enterprises must reinvent their traditional IT infrastructure and data center service capabilities to keep pace with globalization, rising customer expectations and emerging technologies.

NS Bala, chief executive, Manufacturing & Hi-Tech Industry SBU, Wipro, was instrumental in bagging the IT contract.
