Infotech Lead India: Wipro Technologies is planning to add 200 more resources in three months at its newly opened delivery centre in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Wipro will work closely with several universities in the region to recruit young graduates.
The 2,000 seat centre is currently operational with about 100 employees.
At present, Wipro’s operations are spread across multiple facilities in Hyderabad and its employee headcount in Andhra Pradesh is over 10,000.
“We have been present in Andhra Pradesh for the last two decades, and it gives us great pride to expand our footprint to Vishakhapatnam, the second-largest city in the state. The city’s business friendly environment, local infrastructure and talent pool make it an ideal location for our business operations. This centre will support Wipro’s continued expansion in Andhra Pradesh and contribute to creating an ecosystem that further enhances local resources and skills,” said Hari Hegde, vice president and global head of Operations, Wipro.
Meanwhile, Wipro Technologies has signed a contract with Royal Philips Electronics to enable enhanced business growth and profitability. The strategic global engagement will also enable Wipro to be the System Integrator for key initiatives across these Philips’ businesses and platforms.
