Wipro offers WiSTA – Data Scientist program for fresh recruits

Wipro, in partnership with Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), has announced the launch of its ‘WiSTA – Data Scientist’ program in India for 2014 batch of graduates hired by Wipro.

VIT will conduct the Integrated Masters’ Program and award the Master of Technology and Master of Science degrees in analytics.

Analytics is emerging as a key growth area in IT. The rise of digital economy, data explosion and changing face of competition – all of them are forcing organizations to use analytical insights to make informed business decisions.

The WiSTA – Data Scientist program aims to create a cadre of data scientists who will work with Wipro customers in the U.S and in other international locations.

The new WiSTA – Data Scientist program will help the company build a cadre of data driven business leaders for the future, according to Wipro officials.

The two-year program will be conducted at Wipro’s corporate headquarters in Bangalore and comprises of various modules on analytics. This is a two year program for the engineering graduates and a four year program for the Science graduates.

The course content has been jointly created by Wipro and VIT and also includes modules prescribed and taught by professors from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and University of Michigan.

Successful candidates will also receive program completion certificates from MIT and the University of Michigan for the modules covered by them.

“The WiSTA – Data Scientist program is designed to train fresh graduate employees in analytics, business processes, communication skills and relevant technologies, to help them become industry ready and chart out a career in the Data Analytics space,” said Rajeev Kumar, global head, Campus Hiring, Wipro.
