Wipro, India’s third largest software services provider, has increased the salary of its offshore employees – in high single-digit.
Wipro had 163,827 employees during the fiscal 2017-18.
“Wipro has announced salary hikes for eligible employees, effective June 1, 2018. On an average, the increments are in the high single digits for offshore employees,” Wipro said in a statement.
Wipro said it increased the salary of its on-site employees in the low single digits.
Wipro has rewarded top performers and those working on future focused niche technologies and domains with substantially higher increase.
Wipro did not specify the exact details of the wage hikes or the number of employees that were offered the pay hike.
Wipro’s IT services revenue was $8.06 billion, an increase of 4.6 percent, with 5.7 percent drop in net income to $1.2 billion in fiscal 2017-18. Wipro’s IT services margin fell to 15.8 percent due to the impact of insolvency of two customers and the impairment loss in one of its acquisitions.
Earlier this year, larger rival Infosys had said it would roll out salary hikes ranging from mid-single digit to high-single digit for majority of its employees, effective from April onwards.
