Wipro to buy Brazilian IT co InfoSERVER for $8.7 million

Wipro
IT outsourcing company Wipro announced its deal to acquire InfoSERVER for BRL 27.6 million or $8.7 million.

InfoSERVER provides custom application development and software deployment services — focusing on the Brazilian market.

Two-decade old InfoSERVER, which works with several Brazilian banks, will help Wipro in expanding its presence in Brazil. Wipro aims to expand its presence in Banking, Financial Services & Insurance market in Latin America.

The strategy of Wipro is to localise, expand its presence and become a significant IT partner in the Latin America region. Wipro has a significant presence in Latin America with offices across 5 countries in the region – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.

“Latin America and Brazil in particular is a strategic growth and investment region for Wipro. This acquisition will provide Wipro with scale and key client relationships, especially in the banking, financial services and insurance domains, which are the largest and fastest growing sectors in the region,” said Ankur Prakash, head of New Growth and Emerging Markets, Wipro.
