Toshiba America Information Systems (TAIS), an independent company owned by Toshiba America, opened its Australian subsidiary, Toshiba Client Solutions ANZ. Toshiba America is a subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, which has its base in Japan.
According to an official statement, this new Toshiba subsidiary will focus on delivering business-to-business mobile computing solutions and services to enterprise, government, education and SMB markets in both Australia and New Zealand.
Mark Simons, President and Chief Executive Officer, Toshiba America Information Systems said, “The addition of Australia and New Zealand to our footprint in the United States, Latin America and Canada, creates functional synergies, which streamline and strengthen our mobile computing business across all of these regions.”
The new company will operate out of Sydney, Australia, and Mark Whittard will serve as the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Toshiba said.
Toshiba is increasing its focus on Australia and New Zealand. “Transitioning the mobile computing business out from Toshiba (Australia) Pty Ltd and aligning with Toshiba America Information Systems reaffirm Toshiba’s commitment to maintaining its mobile computing business in Australia and New Zealand,” said Mark Whittard, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Toshiba Client Solutions ANZ.
“This new entity will deliver expanded offerings and improved business efficiencies resulting in best-in-class solutions for our professional customers,” he also stated.
As a mobile-focused organization, TCSAN will be offering its customers additional technical resources, technical support, additional systems configurations, robust build-to-order capabilities with rapid fulfillment schedules, and streamlined operational efficiencies.
This new mobile computing-focused organization is part of a global revitalization plan outlined by Toshiba Corporation earlier this year.
The plan includes the establishment of Client Solutions Division, a new business unit within Toshiba America Information Systems, in the United States, and Toshiba Client Solutions Canada.
Founded in Tokyo, Toshiba Corporation has strong presence in the electronic and electrical product and systems market. It has three business fields – sustainable energy, infrastructure, and storage services in the IT field.
With annual sales surpassing 5.6 trillion yen (50 billion)(As of March 31, 2016), Toshiba expects to achieve 98 billion yen from its storage and electronic devices solution segment. Further, 17 billion yen from its industrial ICT solutions segment.
In March, Toshiba had said ¥360B ($3.2 billion) investment on a new factory for flash memory.
It was announced at a time when the company was dealing with a record annual loss and other fallout from an accounting scandal.
The company expects the plant, which will make its proprietary 3D flash chips, to begin output no earlier than 2018.
