Infotech Lead India: Wipro has added 2,907 IT and BPO jobs in the fourth quarter of FY 2013.
Wipro, announcing the quarterly financial result on Friday, said that its headcount in Q4 FY 2013 stood at 145,812 against 142,905 in Q3 FY 2013.
Attrition in BPO business reduced to 13.3 percent in the fourth quarter from 14.2 percent in the third quarter.
Wipro on Friday said its total revenues rose 12 percent to $2.02 billion in Q4 2012-2013.
Revenues for IT services business increased 13 percent $1.76 billion.
Total net income rose 17 percent to $317 million. Net Income for IT business increased 13 percent to $289 million.
Wipro’s total revenue in FY 2013 increased 16 percent to $7.95 billion.
Revenues for IT business rose 17 percent to $6.91 billion.
Wipro’s total net income increased 19 percent to $1.22 billion.
Net income for IT operations rose 17 percent to $1.13 billion.
Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro, said: “We have completed the demerger of the diversified business effective March 31, 2013 to make Wipro a pure play IT company. We are confident that being a technology-focused company will provide a fresh momentum for growth.”
“Wipro’s results were below estimates. The fall in average realizations was higher than estimates. The management has made several changes to the structure to align it more with the demand generation process and increasing efficiency. We believe that, these initiatives have not yet started showing the expected results and will start reflecting in the financials in due course of time,” said Dipen Shah, head of Private Client Group Research, Kotak Securities.
Main deals in Q4 FY 2013
Wipro signed a contract from a large Europe-based universal bank to build a “Centralized Testing Unit” that will help the bank achieve higher production stability and lower cost of avoidance in its Testing processes. Wipro’s Transformation Services and Data Obfuscation Services along with industry leading testing services will help the bank achieve standardized Testing processes across the organization.
GVK-led Mumbai International Airport (MIAL), the operator of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) in Mumbai has chosen Wipro to provide IT services for the new integrated terminal T2. Wipro will be responsible for providing Managed Services across the entire IT landscape at MIAL and deliver high availability and operational efficiency across all the critical airport processes.
Wipro has won an ERP deal for Asset and Infrastructure Management from a key national defense organization.
The company added 52 new customers for the quarter.
Its IT Products segment posted revenue of $720 million for the year ended March 31, 2013, an increase of 2 percent.
Wipro expects revenues from its IT services business to be in the range of $1,575 million to $1,610 million in Q1 FY 2014.
