Live: HCL Technologies’ IT and BPO employee base dips to 84,403 in Q3

Infotech Lead India: HCL Technologies’ employee base – including IT and BPO – has decreased to 84,403 in Q3 2012-2013 from 85,194 in Q2.

In the third quarter of 2011-2012, HCL Technologies’ employee base was 82,464.

The main reduction in employees was in HCL Technologies’ IT services department. Number of employee decreased to 74,226 in Q3 from 75,226 in Q2.

In HCL Technologies’ BPO business, there was net addition of 209 employees in the third quarter. BPO employees increased to 10,177 employees in Q3 from 9,968 in Q2.

HCL Technologies’ software business also reduced employees by 1,638 to 52,305 in Q3 from 53,943 in Q2.

Infrastructure business added 638 employees to 21,921 in Q3 from 21,283 in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, HCL Technologies on Wednesday said its Q3 revenue increased 13.6 percent to $1.19 billion.

Net profit of HCL Technologies increased 59.2 percent to $193 million in the third quarter ended March 31, 2013.

Anant Gupta, president & CEO, HCL Technologies, said: “Amidst a challenging and uncertain business environment, HCL continues on its growth trajectory fuelled by its Alternative Outsourcing (AO) approach led by two unique value propositions of Alternative ASM and Enterprise Function as a Service (EFaaS).”

Across the board growth led by Infrastructure Services at 28.3 percent, Engineering and R&D Services at 8.7 percent, Enterprise Application Services 8.1 percent, Custom Application Services at 6.7 percent and BPO at 5.3 percent.

HCL Technologies also posted broad based growth led by Healthcare at 55.8 percent, Retail & CPG at 18.8 percent, Media Publishing & Entertainment at 14.7 percent and Financial Services at 10.8 percent.

Dipen Shah, head of Private Client Group Research, Kotak Securities, said:

“We believe that, there are margin headwinds and the company will have to achieve further productivity improvements in order to protect margins. The company’s focus on the re-bid market continues to provide good visibility with $1 billion of order wins during the quarter and a 40 percent higher funnel y-o-y.”
