KPIT and Birlasoft to merge to create $700 mn IT company

Indian technology outsourcing companies — KPIT and Birlasoft will merge and later split the combined entity of KPIT and Birlasoft into two public companies.

KPIT Technologies will be a $200 million plus revenue company focused on Automotive Engineering and Mobility Solutions.

Birlasoft will be a $500 million plus revenue company focused on Enterprise Digital Business IT Services Company.

Both companies will not make any changes to its top management. Both KPIT and Birlasoft did not reveal that whether they will undergo any job cut as part of the initial consolidation and split.

Kishor Patil will become the CEO and MD of the new KPIT Technologies.

Anjan Lahiri will become the CEO and MD of the new Birlasoft.

KPIT Technologies will evolve from the current Engineering business of KPIT to become a leader in Automotive Engineering and Mobility Solutions.

The new Birlasoft will focus on Digital Business IT Services by combining it with the KPIT ITSS business, which provides Digital Enterprise Solutions (SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle), IoT, Cloud and Digital Transformation.

The new KPIT Technologies will leverage KPIT’s expertise in Automotive and Mobility, and will be led by Kishor Patil as the CEO and MD. This company will strengthen the relationship with global Automotive and Mobility leaders in meeting their engineering needs.

Amita Birla, chairman of Birlasoft, said: “Birlasoft will become the leading Enterprise Digital company in the country that will advise its customers in unlocking value in their digital journey.”

The new Birlasoft will emerge over the next year — led by Anjan Lahiri as the CEO and MD.
