Infotech Lead India: iGate’s headhunter is in talks with Infosys’ BG Srinivas and Ashok Vemuri for CEO post.
BG Srinivas and Ashok Vemuri are board members of Infosys.
Executive search firm Russell Reynolds Associates, which has the mandate to find the new CEO for iGate, is also in talks with Girish Paranjpe, a former co-CEO of Wipro, India’s third-largest IT services company, Economic Times reported on Monday.
In fact, Infosys board members BG Srinivas and Ashok Vemuri are in queue to succeed Chief Executive Officer SD Shibulal when his term ends in early 2015.
Russell Reynolds declined comment on candidates, while Srinivas and Vemuri did not reply to emailed questions. Paranjpe, who is the MD of Bloom Energy International, did not reply to an email either.
The CEO’s chair at iGate became vacant about three weeks ago when its board fired Phaneesh Murthy – a former ace salesman at Infosys – for failing to disclose his relationship with a subordinate.
Infosys’ Srinivas is the head of Europe as well as financial services, while Vemuri heads Americas, manufacturing and engineering services.
Along with former chief financial officer V Balakrishnan (he oversees the India business, BPO unit, banking product unit and Lodestone), they are seen as the top contenders to succeed Shibulal. Both the senior executives have been with Infosys since 1999.
