Technology outsourcing company Cognizant today announced its 3-year deal with Centrica, an energy and service company.
Centrica has selected the US-headquartered Cognizant to deliver digital assurance as-a-service to enhance efficiency of web and digital applications and smart devices.
Cognizant, which has presence in the Indian IT services market, will also standardize and automate processes, and drive service virtualization at Centrica.
Centrica aims to reduce the total cost of ownership, while creating a secure and scalable digital-ready technology backbone. This will enable Centrica to respond more effectively to changing business needs.
David Cooper, Interim Group CIO at Centrica, said: “The program will standardize our processes across the Group, ensuring best practice digital assurance and control capabilities, while achieving significant cost savings.”
Rohit Gupta, head of Energy and Utilities, the UK and Ireland at Cognizant, was instrumental in bagging the technology outsourcing deal.
“By using an innovative as-a-service model for digital assurance, Centrica will now be able to lower the cost of quality and invest the savings to accelerate their journey towards becoming a digital enterprise,” Rohit Gupta.
Centrica supplies energy and energy-related services to around 28 million customer accounts mainly in the U.K., Ireland and North America, through strong brands such as British Gas, Bord Gais Energy and Direct Energy, supported by around 12,000 engineers and technicians.
