Online merchants can tap new cognitive capabilities from IBM

IBM Corporation

IBM announced new commerce capabilities designed to help online merchants in decision making.

Named as IBM Commerce Insights, the solution leverages cognitive capabilities from Watson Analytics.

The company said the solution allows practitioners to gain a real-time view into customer behavior and market factors that are impacting their business.

Moreover, the solution alerts its users about opportunities and roadblocks and helps them to take informed actions.

Considering all levels of users, Commerce Insights allows interaction in natural language, giving users easiness to take decisions.

These new cognitive capabilities will change the way online merchants, product managers and marketers gain insight, execute actions and achieve desired results, IBM said in a press statement.

“At Carhartt, our planners and web merchants are experts on the categories of products that we sell, but they often find themselves caught up handling day to day operations and sometimes aren’t able to react quickly to opportunities that occur in the market,” said Anna Cole, Senior Manager of Operations and Merchandising at Carhartt.

“We are excited by the direction IBM is taking and applying Watson and cognitive capabilities to eCommerce,” Anna added.
