Enterprise IT vendor IBM announced its customer application deal with Dow Chemical unit.
As per the enterprise app deal, IBM will deploy a new customer application for Dow Water & Process Solutions (DW&PS) to provide water quality predictions for water treatment designs utilizing DW&PS technologies.
DW&PS has developed Water Application Value Engine (WAVE), a new software application to help engineers iterate results of various water treatment components in their designs. To support their engineering customers, DW&PS selected IBM to quickly scale the application and make it accessible to customers.
As part of the deal, DW&PS selected an IBM hybrid cloud solution using SoftLayer infrastructure to deploy the WAVE application.
“As we continue to expand our digital offering, the IBM cloud – with its global network of cloud centers, control and security – has become a step change for our business by enabling us to accelerate the development and global deployment of a new application from many months to a few weeks,” said Nanette Hermsen, associate vertical marketing director for Dow Water and Process Solutions.
IBM Interactive Experience is helping design and develop the portal solution for WAVE, which will also incorporate IBM cloud-based collaboration tools to provide DW&PS account managers and technical service representatives with a more interactive way of dealing with customers. DW&PS will introduce the new app with a pilot group of customers later this month.
