Brockenhurst College uses IBM Smarter Education technologies

Brockenhurst College in the New Forest is utilizing IBM Smarter Education technologies hosted on the Cloud.

The main objective is to achieve 15 percent increase in growth and 15 percent reduction in students who are at risk of dropping out over the next five years, said IBM in a statement.

IBM Exceptional Student Experience technology uses Cloud, analytics, mobile and social solutions.

The IBM technology enables college students to learn anytime, anywhere and on any device. In addition, this provides them with a rich set of data and online resources at their fingertips. The technology can also be used by students to learn, connect and share views with other students from across the world.

Teachers and lecturers will also benefit as analytics and big data technologies can give information highlighting students who may not be completing their course or working to their full potential, said IBM.

It can provide information if a student favors online learning, face to face learning or a combination of both to determine a personalized engagement with the college.

IBM will deliver the ESE solution via the Softlayer cloud platform.

Cloud enables Brockenhurst College to save £500,000, the cost of purchasing physical infrastructure.

IBM claims that Exceptional Student Experience technology enables institutions to increase admissions by up to 20 percent; reduce annual administration costs by up to £300,000 and drive student success and retention by up to 25 percent.
