Zoom Video Communications announced innovative AI-driven advancements at Zoomtopia 2024, showcasing its vision for an AI-first work platform designed to transform communication, collaboration, and productivity.

These new innovations aim to revolutionize Zoom Workplace and Zoom Business Services, helping users enhance efficiency and streamline workflows, Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer of Zoom Video, said.

Key Announcements:

AI Companion 2.0: Zoom’s AI Companion has been upgraded with persistent access across the platform, expanded contextual understanding, real-time web information retrieval, and task automation. Users can engage with AI Companion through a seamless interface, and it will synthesize interactions from various sources, including emails and calendar apps, to boost productivity.

Zoom Tasks: A new AI-powered feature, Zoom Tasks, will help users detect, recommend, and complete tasks automatically based on conversations across Zoom Workplace.

Custom AI Add-on: Available in 2025, this new add-on will allow users to tailor AI Companion with custom dictionaries, company-specific data, and integrations with third-party apps like Jira, Workday, and Zendesk. It will offer personalized coaching and custom avatars for Zoom Clips, saving time on video content creation.

Industry-Specific AI Solutions: Tailored AI solutions for healthcare, frontline workers, and education will provide specialized tools for automating workflows, reducing documentation, and enhancing employee and student engagement.

Zoom’s new AI features, including meeting agendas, real-time summaries, and personalized voicemail greetings, aim to make communication smoother while fostering better collaboration. By creating an AI-first work platform, Zoom is driving the future of work forward, with tools designed to empower individuals and teams alike.

These advancements will be rolled out over the coming months, with AI Companion 2.0 available at no extra cost for Zoom’s paid accounts.

Zoom announced an exciting new addition to its AI offerings—a custom add-on for the AI Companion. This optional add-on, set to launch in the first half of 2025 at $12 per user per month, allows for a personalized AI experience, enabling individual customers to connect with expanded data sources beyond the usual Microsoft and Google services. Key features include customization with company glossaries, enhanced search functions, and the ability to take actions on users’ behalf.

Organizations can tailor their AI Companion using AI Studio, integrating custom dictionaries, meeting summaries, and access to company data sources. The new add-on also connects with third-party apps like Atlassian, Workday, Zendesk, and Asana, helping businesses to streamline operations. Additionally, the personalization aspect offers coaching tools and AI-generated custom avatars for Zoom Clips, saving time in video creation.

Zoom Workplace Enhancements

Zoom is further enhancing the Zoom Workplace platform with features like Zoom Tasks, which will detect, recommend, and complete tasks based on conversations. AI Companion is also powering real-time Zoom Phone summaries and voicemail generation, adding a new level of efficiency to calls and messaging.

For meetings, AI Companion will now provide real-time meeting agendas and summaries to keep discussions on track. A pre-selected library of avatars can also be used for creating professional Zoom Clips, streamlining video content production.

In-Person and Employee Engagement Features

In-person meetings will benefit from AI-powered summaries and action items, while Workspace Reservation will recommend office days based on teammates’ schedules. New AI-first employee engagement tools will improve connection and performance insights, enhancing collaboration and productivity.

Business Services Enhancements

Zoom also unveiled AI-powered features for customer service, including improvements to its Zoom Virtual Agent, which now has multi-intent detection and dynamic agent guides, helping streamline interactions. Supervisors will benefit from Auto Quality Management, which automatically scores customer interactions.

Industry-Specific AI Solutions

Zoom is rolling out AI-driven solutions for specific sectors, including healthcare, frontline workers, and education. These solutions include custom workflows, healthcare dictionaries, shift summaries, and tailored educational tools like personalized lesson plans and feedback.
