Nxtra by Airtel, a major Indian data center provider, has introduced AI in its operations, becoming the first in India to use AI in data centers. This initiative is aimed at improving predictive maintenance, energy efficiency, automation, and capital expenditure optimization.

The deployment utilizes the AI-driven SmartSense platform by Ecolibrium, a leader in infrastructure AI. Initially launched at Nxtra’s Chennai data center, the AI technology will expand to all core Nxtra data centers across India.
Efficiency Goals: The AI deployment aims to achieve several efficiency milestones:
10 percent increase in asset life with real-time analytics and predictive maintenance.
10 percent reduction in non-IT power usage through early detection of energy loss.
15 percent improvement in equipment performance using AI fault detection.
25 percent productivity boost with AI-driven insights for operational improvements.
Nxtra’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its net-zero goal by 2031, focusing on green energy and efficient practices. The company plans to expand its capacity to over 400 MW to support India’s data center demand.
Ashish Arora, CEO of Nxtra by Airtel, emphasized the integration of advanced AI technology to offer sustainable, high-performing data centers.
