Walgreens to deploy IBM retail analytics at 8,100 drugstore locations

IBM Cloud for CIOsWalgreens will deploy IBM retail analytics at more than 8,100 drugstore locations in the U.S. to improve the efficiency of field service support.

Walgreens will gain from IBM’s ability to integrate hardware and software from different tech vendors to enhance efficiency of technology operation across the store.

Walgreens stores will use IBM Cloud to assess level of support needed at each Walgreens location based on service request history.

Walgreens stores can use this information for better anticipation and coordination when dispatching field technicians to resolve issues.

IBM said Walgreens can use these data-driven insights to identify frequent service calls at a given location and bundle those requests into one service call to minimize repeated instances of system downtime.

“As a cloud services integrator, IBM is always driven by the desire to think differently about the way we manage our clients’ services and underlying infrastructure in any business, and we are well suited to help them achieve the results they are looking for,” said Martin Jetter, senior vice president, IBM Global Technology Services.
