Muthoot Fincorp deploys Fortinet security platform, after rejecting Juniper, Cisco, DAX

Muthoot Fincorp, a provider of retail financial services, has deployed its Fortinet’s FortiGate network security platform – after rejecting Juniper, Cisco Systems and DAX.

Muthoot will secure its datacenter and network of over 3,800 branches by deploying FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer centralized management and reporting appliances.

Fortinet will also provide high performance, comprehensive security features and ease of management of its solutions to non-banking finance company.

Earlier, Muthoot Fincorp’s branches were linked to its head office over unsecured broadband connections with no assurance on quality of service.

The company whose many branches are located in tier II and III cities and remote villages wanted to upgrade its IT infrastructure to provide secure, fail-proof connectivity, performance, scalability, modularity, availability and simplicity.

Muthoot Fincorp chose the FortiGate-1000C, FortiGate-200B and FortiGate-40C for deployment at its datacenter, regional offices and branches respectively.

Muthoot head office now has complete control of the organization’s internet and application usage as well as transactions conducted at every branch using a centralized network security policy.

The head office can also manage the NGFW security functions from a single-pane-of-glass console through a FortiManager- 3000C at its data center.

For in-depth discovery, analysis, prioritization and reporting of network events company has deployed FortiAnalyzer-1000C.

Additionally, Muthoot can create security zones for its various departments, users, access methods and even devices.

The institution can also identify and remove threats hidden within legitimate application traffic by intercepting and inspecting network traffic at wire speeds using a sophisticated pattern-matching engine.

In March, Fortinet, in partnership with Spirent Communications, validated Fortinet’s FortiGate-3810D appliance designed for large enterprises, Communication Service Providers (CSPs) and data center environments.
