Wipro Q3 revenues up 6% to $1.9 billion, profit up 9%

IT services company Wipro said its revenues rose 6 percent to $1.9 billion, while profit grew 9 percent to $348 million in the third quarter ended December 31, 2014.

IT services revenue increased 7 percent to $1,795.4 million.

“Developments in the Global currency and commodity markets are affecting major economies unevenly even as India anticipates growth led by next-generation of economic reforms,” said Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro.

Wipro expects revenues from IT services business to be in the range of $ 1,814 million to $1,850 million.

IT services segment of Wipro had a headcount of 156,866 as of December 31, 2014. The software services company added 44 new customers during the quarter.

Wipro generated business from Global Infrastructure Services 27.3 percent, Advanced Technologies & Solutions 11.2 percent, Business Application Services 28.9 percent, BPO 9.5 percent, Product Engineering 7.1 percent and ADM 16 percent.

Main industry verticals that contributed to Wipro revenue in Q3 were Global Media & Telecom 13.8 percent, Finance Solutions 25.7 percent, Manufacturing & Hitech 18.3 percent, Healthcare, Life Sciences & Services 11.7 percent, Retail, Consumer Goods & Transportation 14.1 percent and Energy, Natural Resources & Utilities 16.4 percent.

In terms of geography, Americas contributed 51.4 percent, Europe 27.6 percent, India & Middle East business 9.6 percent and APAC and Other Emerging Markets 11.4 percent.
