TeamViewer Reports Cyberattack by Russian Hacker Group APT29

German software company TeamViewer announced on Friday that it was targeted by a cyberattack earlier this week, attributing the breach to the Russian hacker group APT29. Known also as “Cozy Bear” or Midnight Blizzard, APT29 is alleged by Western intelligence agencies to operate on behalf of Russia’s foreign spy agency.

TeamViewer stated that the hackers accessed its corporate IT environment on Wednesday but did not infiltrate its product environment or customer data.
